Sweet Momma

With great sadness, I have to report that our sweet, sweet Momma gerbil passed away this afternoon. We rescued her a little over a year so we aren't sure how old she was, but she became very ill Thursday and after two visits to the vet and a lot of medication and two sleepless nights by myself and Jason we felt she was not improving. It seemed cruel to keep forcing her to take meds that were only going to keep her barely hanging on to only stay sick and in pain, so we made to decision to have her put to sleep. We stayed with her the whole time and held her as she went to sleep.

Momma is now in a place with an endless supply of sunflower seeds and toilet paper tubes to chew up.

Momma raised eight pups and brought us a lot of joy and sweet moments in the time we had her. She'll always have a special spot in our hearts and she will be greatly missed.

Mystery Stone

I have no idea what this focal stone is! It is dark purple with yellow stripes.

Anybody have any ideas?

I have it paired up with 6mm amethyst beads and yellow jade chips.

I love the set, I just wish I knew what the heck the focal is!

Busy, Busy, Busy

School has been incredibly time consuming this quarter. I'm pretty much burnt out and I haven't been able to make any jewelry lately because I've just been doing homework.

I would LOVE to take a vacation for a while, maybe I can talk Jason into getting away for a few days at the end of the month when my classes are over.

I'm excited to redo Kennedy's room on March 24th, we're taking it from "Toddler to Big Girl". And since she's a girlie girl there will be lots of pink- but not too much otherwise she'll hate it in a few years! I'll definitely post images of that project when it's done in a couple weeks.

I wanted to post more images of some of the projects I've done the last couple months for school but it won't load them. Here are a couple of a model I made. It was a two floor exhibition space for an upscale electronics pavillion. I'm currently doing a three floor model of a townhouse to the specs of a very wealthy young couple- myself and Jason...except for the wealthy part!

I finally got some more things photographed for this here little blog!

Mom's Raven

I made this for my Mom's birthday- she loves ravens. The focal bead was made by a crafter up in the Northwest somewhere and I added vintage metal beads, wooden beads, black onyx, and some honey and mahogany "jade". Mom loves it I'm happy to say!

Reversible Cross

I found this coral and turquoise cross when I was in Gallup, New Mexico last year for work. The cross is about 1 1/2 long and is made of silver with coral on one side and turquoise on the other. I used small (teeny tiny- but not seed size) coral beads and reconstituted turquoise for the necklace.

Inlayed Shell

This is another piece that came to fruition after my trip to Gallup last year. I found a gorgeous pair of handmade, inlayed shell earrings. They seemed to big to wear as earrings, but I knew that I could turn them into pendants by manipulating the silver earring component. I came home and used the round turquoise beads and sterling spacers to create two necklaces- one for me and one for Mom of course!
